Profile

George Remus was born in Germany in the year of 1876. During his early life, it was evident that Remus would have a successful life. Early on, his skills were numerable. Before he graduated school he led a studen rebellion against one of his teachers and as a result received bad scored from the teacher. Quitting school he joined his uncle's drugstore as an assistant. He bought the shop and did better than his uncle and bought another drugstore. He became a certified optometrist andi= eventually married.

This video shows early 1900s immigration. The Prohibitionists greatly feared the immigrants(people of say, German, Irish descent) heavy drinking.



George Remus, in addition to caring for his children and run his drugstores, studied law and was admitted to the Illinois Bar when he was only 24 years old. He promptly set up his own practice was was very succesful.

George Remus' personality was very positive. His sister decribed him as "talkative, energetic, a book lover, careful in his appearance, and very seldom to be scolded". It was not surprising when he was observed by the examining psychiatrists when he was caught to be "alert, friendly, courteous, and perfectly willing to cooperate in every way."

George Remus' interests included hosting lavish parties, horseracing, swimming, and assuming responsibility.
